We would like to invite all junior players to enter our tennis ladder. This ladder is suitable for all levels from orange, green and yellow ball players (ages 8+). When you begin play, you will be placed in a box with players of similar skill levels. A Ladder is meant to give everyone a competitive match so we will match players together as best we can. This is to encourage play and social interaction between the juniors. Parents/Guardians can enter players for next month August 24th by sending in their details, child’s name, parent’s email address and telephone number to the club by email to email@example.com .
All ladder matches must be arranged by a parent/guardian. Children’s’ names along the parents/guardian’s phone number will be displayed on the ladder in order to arrange matches.
The type of Ladder that we are playing is a Box Ladder. There will be up to 5 people in a box. The intention is that you will play each person in the box once during each month. At the beginning of the month, you can view your Ladder on the St Anne’s website or on the notice board in the clubhouse and arrange matches with your box opponents. All scores will be entered by the participants directly on the website or written on the board in the clubhouse, which will keep track of the standings.
You can join a ladder at any time, but new entrants will only begin play at the beginning of the following month. On the last day of each month the Ladder will be shuffled. The top 2 players will move up a box, the bottom 2 players will move down a box, and any new players will be added. To ensure active participation in the ladder, players who have not played any ladder matches at the end of the month will be removed from the ladder and will need to re-register to participate the following month.
All Ladder matches are one hour including warm-up. Fast 4 Four Format
Instead of playing first to 6 games, play first to 4 games. At 3 games all, play a tiebreak to 5.
Third Set Match Tie-break
Instead of playing 3 full sets, if the score gets to 1 set you will play a match tiebreak as the third set. This will be a tiebreak to 10 points, the winner of this match tiebreak would win the match 2 sets to 1.
No ‘Ad’ Scoring
No ad scoring is where, instead of getting to deuce and then advantage (40-40 then Ad-40), you only play one more point. At deuce (40-40) the receiver chooses which side to receive the serve from and the winner of that point wins the game.
If the serve clips the net and lands in the service box, there’s no let the ball is in play.
We would encourage all junior players to enter this ladder to give them a chance to practise their tennis with players of similar ability and make new friends. If you have any queries, we will be available to help.
